Mestre Venice bus connections

In order to reach Venice from Mestre with the public transport you can use train or bus. It is said that the most convenient way is to take a train. From Mestre to Venice leave direct trains, the average journey time is just 10 minutes. The tickets cost 1,25 EUR. The tickets can be bought in the ticket vending machines at the train station, in tabaccherie or in kiosk.

Mestre is also well connected with Venice by buses of the ACTV company. All buses stop in Venice at Piazzale Roma, that is situated near Venice train station Santa Lucia. The average journey time is 15-30 minutes depending on where you take a bus in Mestre.

The Aeolian Islands: how to get there from Milazzo

The Aeolian Islands/in italian le Isole Eolie or Isole Lipari  forms a volcanic archipelago that consists of 6 islands:  Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Stromboli, Filicudi, Alicudi, Panarea. The arcipelago has two active volcanoes. They are situated in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of Sicily.

The only way to reach the Aeolian Islands is by ship or by hydrofoils.  The main port from which it is possible to reach the Aeolian Islands is from Milazzo port.

Ships and hydrofoils leave to the Aeolian Islands also from the ports of Palermo, Messina, Reggio Calabria and  Naples but there are much less connections. You can check here how to reach the Aeolian Islands from ports of  Palermo, Messina, Reggio Calabria and Napoles.

  • Milazzo –the Aeolian Islands

1. Siremar

The ship company Siremar offers sea connections between Milazzo and the Aeolian Islands both with ships and hydrofoils. The price depends on the island destination. Trips to islands that are closer to Milazzo cost less, for example, to go from Milazzo to Lipari  costs 14,10 EUR (the average journey time is 2 hours). However, to go from Milazzo to Stromboli costs 18,26 EUR, as it is situated futher from Milazzo. (the average journey time is 7 hours)

Palermo – the Aeolian Islands

1. Liberty lines

Liberty lines offers the connection between Palermo and the Aeolian Islands with the hydrofoils. Hidrofoils leave once a day (summer 2016). Alicudi island is a closest island to Palermo, it takes only 2 hours to arrive there.

Messina – the Aeolian Islands

Liberty lines also offers connections between Messina and the Aeolian Islands
with the hydrofoils. Hydrofoils don’t leave for Filicudi e Alicudi. Stromboli, Salina and Vulcano are situted closer to Messina than other Aeolian islands, it takes around 2 hours to get there.

  • Reggio Calabria – the Aeolian Islands

Liberty lines offers connections between Reggio Calabria and the Aeolian Islands only with hydrofoils. Hydrofoils don’t leave for Filicudi and Alicudi. Hydrofoils leave only once a day (summer 2016). Salina and Lipari are two islands that are situated closer to Reggio Calabria than others, you need 2 hours to reach them.

  • Napoli – the Aeolian Islands

1. Siremar
Siremar offers night connections between Naples and the Aeolian Islands with ferries.  Average journey time between Naples and Stromboli (that is the closest island to Naples) is 10 hours, whilst between Naples nad Vulcano (that is the futherst island from Naples) is around 15 hours.  You can book tickets on the official website of  Siremar.

2. SNAV
SNAV offers daily connection between Naples and the Aeolian Islands from 28.05 till 10.09.16 with high speed ferries. Ferries leaves from porto Mergellina in Naples.   The price is around 150 EUR.

3. Alilauro 

Alilauro offers connections between Naples and the Aeolian Islands from  01.06.16 to 11.09.16. Ferries do not leave for Filicudi and Alicudi. In Naples ferries leave from porto  Mergellina. The ticket price starts from 100 EUR. The trip takes only 6 hours.

From Catania airport to Taormina leaves direct bus of the company Interbus. The average journey time is one hour and 25 minutes. In Taormina the bus stops in the Bus Terminal (Via Pirandello near the city center). You can buy tickets from the ticket offices of bus Terminal or directly on the bus. One way ticket costs 8,20 EUR.*

* it is better to book the ticket in advance.

From Moday to Saturday the first bus leaves the airport to go to Taormina at 8.45, the last one at 20.45. The interval between buses is 30 min (except the time at 11.45 12.45, 13.45, 14.45, 15.45, 18.45, 19.45, 20.45 when the interval is an hour). From Taormina the first bus leaves from 6.30 whilst the last one at 20.45. The interval is 30 min (except the time at  6.30, 7.45 when the interval is 45 min and the time at 11.45 12.45 13.45 14.45 15.45 16.45 19.45 and 2o.45 when the interval is an hour).

During Sundays and holidays the first bus leaves the airport at 7.45, the last one at 20.45. The interval between buses is 30 min except time at 18.45, 19.45 e 20.45. From Taormina the first bus leaves at 7.45, the last one at 20.45. The interval is 30 min except the time at 7.45, 8.45, 19,45 e 20,45.*

From Catania to Taormina also leaves the direct bus of Interbus. In Catania the bus leaves from via Archimede – that is situated near the train station. In Taormina the bus stops in the Bus Terminal (Via Pirandello near the city center). Average journey time isone hour and 10 min. One way ticket costs 5,10 EUR whilst two way tickets 8,5 EUR.

 

From Monday to Saturday the first bus leaves Catania at  7.00, the last one at 21.00. The interval is 30 min (except the following hours: 07.00, 07.20, 07.30, 19.20, 20.00, 21.00). From Taormina the first bus leaves at 06.25, the last one at 20.45. The interval is 30 min except the following hours: 06.25. 06.30, 07.45, 11.15, 11.30, 11.45, 19.45, 20.45)

During the holidays and Sundays  the first bus leaves Catania at 8.00 whilst the last one at 21.00. The interval is 30 min (except the following hours: 19.00, 20.00 and 21.00). From Taormina the first bus leaves at 07.45, the last one at 20.45. The interval is 30 min  (except the following hours: 07.45, 08.45, 19.45, 20.45)*

How to get to Lecce

In  this article, however, we are going to talk about how to reach Lecce (together with Otranto and Gallipoli) from other Italian cities.

  • Bari Airport – Bari – Lecce

There are several ways how to get from Bari airport to Lecce.

1. The easiest way to do that is to take the bus managed by Salento In Bus, an initiative of the Lecce region to correspond to the tourist demand that is aslways high during the summer season. SAlento in Bus offers several bus lines that operate in the region of Salento and  that are active from the 15th of July to the 15th of September.

Therefore, there is a direct bus from Bari Airport that arrives in Lecce. The bus stops in Maglie, Otranto and Torre dell’Orso. The average journey time is 2 hours and 20 minutes.  Tickets cost € 14,00. It is possible to buy tickets in the bus without any additional charges.  Please note that the bus doesn’t operate on Sundays.

2. Also it is possible first to reach Bari central train station and there take a train to Lecce. The average journey time is one hour and a half. Trains run every 30 minutes. A ticket costs from 10,50 EUR. For more infromation: Bari airport – Bari.

  • Brindisi airport – Lecce

1. There are  direct buses of  SEAT Srl and SITA SUD Srl companies that connect Brindisi airport and Lecce. The bus operates every day. In Lecce the bus leaves from Largo Carmelo Bene (Ex Foro Boario). The average journey time is 40 minutes. The tickets can be bought in the bus (with the additional charges of 1,50 EUR) and in ticket offices and other ticket points of sale (you can find adresses in the timetable below). The one way ticket costs  – € 6,50

2. Sita Sud offers connections between Brindisi airport and Lecce. The bus operates every day. Le corse si effettuano tutti i giorni. In Lecce the bus leaves from Largo Carmelo Bene (Ex Foro Boario). The tickets can be bought in the bus (with the additional charges of 1,50 EUR) and in ticket offices and other ticket points of sale (you can find addresses in the timetable below). Marozzi viaggi offers connections between Florence and Lecce every day but the bus runs only once a day. One way ticket costs  61,50 EUR, two-way – 109,50 EUR. The average journey time is 13 hours. From Florence the bus leaves at  20:15 (Piazzale Montelungo (bin.16)) and arrives in Lecce at 08:55 (P.zza Carmelo Bene (foro boario)).  From Lecce the bus leaves at  20:50 and arrives in Florence at 10.30.

The region of Salento is situated in Puglia. It is famous for its various towns with beutiful beaches. In order to get to the region of Salento, the Province of Lecce offers buses that connect different towns of the region. (An initiative called Salento In Bus that offers several bus lines that are active from 15.06.16 till 15.09.16).

Below you can find  timetables of the bus lines. As was mentioned before, these buses operate from 15.06.16 till 15.09.16. However, not all buses operate entirely this time period. So please look at the timetable carefully. Below you also can find the tariff system. The price varies depending on the km. Please note that all costs undergo additional charges of 0,40 €  if the tickets are bought online and 1.00 € if the tickets are bought in the bus.

In Puglia there are 4 airports: in Bari, in Foggia, in Brindisi and in Taranto. In this article we are going to talk about bus and train connections with Bari airport (called also airport Karol Wojtyła).

  • Bari Airport – Bari

There are different ways to reach Bari from Bari airport:

1. The fastest way  is to use the train/Linea Ferroviaria Metropolitana. FERROTRAMVIARIA SpA connects Bari central train station with the airport in 15 minutes.  The ticket costs 5 EUR. Trains run every 20/30 minuts.

2. The most economic way to reach Bari is to use buses of  AMTAB (Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti Autobus Bari) n° 16, that connect the airport and Bari central train station (Piazza Moro). However it takes more time: around one hour as buses make various stops. The bus runs every 40 min. The ticket costs 1 EUR and 1 EUR and 50 if it is bought in the bus. The average journey time is 30 minuts  The ticket costs 4 EUR, it should be bought in the bus. The bus runs every 40 minutes, from 05.00 to 24.00. Please note that the bus does operate during holidays.

The bus stops also in Pontelungo and in Ospedale Maggiore. The tickets cost 6 EUR, children don’t have to buy tickets if they are less than 1 meter high. Tickets can be bought in the ticket machines at the airport or at the train station of Bologna or in the ticket offices of  TPER.

Grado is situated in the north-east of Italy in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is adjacent peninsula of the Adriatic Sea between Venice and Trieste. Grado is called “Isola del Sole” that is ‘Sun Island’ and is well known for its spectaculous beaches. Enough to say that in 2016 its beaches have been awarded Blue Flag Award that recognises the cleanliness of water and beaches as well as good beach infrastructure. Beside this, Grado offers a beautiful city center, lagoonal landscape, terme di Marine di Grado and so on.

Grado is well connected by the public trasport by both extraurban and urban bus  services. However, if you want to reach Grado by train, please note that there is no train stations in Grado itself. The nearest train stations are: Cervignano del Friuli (16 Km) and Udine train stations (45 Km). They are connected with Grado with numerous buses.

Ferrara is situated in the Emilia-Romagna region. Ferrara is well connected by buses and trains. It is situated 45 km from Bologna and 110 km from Venice. Airports that are close to Ferrara are: Bologna airport and Venice Marco Polo airport.

  • Bologna airport – Ferrara

There are two options to get to Ferrara from Bologna.

1. To take direct buses Bus&Fly. Buses Bus & Fly connects Bologna airport with Ferrara in one hour. Buses run 8 times per day, making 3 bus stops in Ferrara: at the shopping center, train station and in viale Cavour (city center). One way ticket costs 15 EUR. Tickets can be bought on the bus.

2. The second option is to first arrive to the train station of Bologna and then take a train to Ferrara. To arrive to the train station of Bologna from the airport you need to take Aerobus. For more infromation: : Bologna airport: connections

Then you should take a train to Ferrara. (around 30 minutes)

  • Venice airport Marco Polo  – Ferrara

Venice airport is situated futher from Bologna airport (110 km from Ferrara). There are no direct connections. At first, you should reach Mestre train station. For more information: Venice airport Marco Polo: connections.

Then you should take a train to get to Ferrara (around 60 minutes)

  • Bologna – Ferrara

TPER (Trasporto Passeggeri Emilia-Romagna) offers connections between Bologna and Ferrara. Line 356 connects two cities. Tickets can be bought on the bus (with extra charges) or in the tickets selling points. In Ferrara the bus terminal is in Corso Isonzo, whilsts in Bologna at the Piazza XX Settembre, 6.

  • Venice  – Ferrara

Flixbus offers daily connections between Vencie and Ferrara. Tickets cost from 5 EUR, full price -19 EUR. In Venice the bus terminal is in Venice Mestre train station, viale stazione 16. In Ferrara – at the square near the train station. The bus also stops in Padova (parking Piazzale Boschetti).

Timetable:

From Ferrara a bus leaves at 07.55 and arrives to Venice Mestre Station at 10.00. At the same time a bus leaves from Venice Mestre Station at 20.35 and arrives in Ferrara at 22.40.*

  • Modena – Ferrara

TPER also connects Modena and Ferrara. Lines 550, 551, 552 connect two cities every day. Average journey time is 2 hours.

  • By train

Train station in Ferrara is situated 20 minutes from the city center so it can be reached on foot or by bus. Please note that because of some work in progress at the train station from 08.08 to 21.08.16, some trains from Bologna would be replaced by bus. How to get to Pavia

Pavia

Pavia is situated in the Lombardia region, that is 35 km from Milan. Pavia is a city of art, culture and nature and has a lot to offer. It can be easily reached by both trains and buses from airports of Milan and nearby cities.

  • Milan airport Linate – Pavia

Milano airport Linate is situated 58 km from Pavia. There are 2 options to get there:

1. Autoservizi Botti offers such connections every day. One way tickets cost 15 EUR, two way tickets – 27 EUR. For children, who are less than 12, there are some discounts. The average journey time is 40 minutes.

2. At first, you should arrive to the Stazione Centrale of Milan. For more information: Linate airport: connections. From the train station you can easily reach Pavia by train. The average journey time is 30 minutes. Tickets cost from 4 EUR.

  • Milano Malpensa airport  – Pavia

Milano Malpensa airport is situated 85 km from Pavia. Unfortunately, there are no direct connections with Pavia. At first you should arrive to the Stazione Centrale of Milan. For more information: Malpensa airport: connections. From Milano Stazione Centrale it is possiblie to reach Pavia by train. The average journey time is 30 minutes. Tickets cost from 4 EUR.

  • L’aeroporto Bergamo Orio al Serio – Pavia

Unfortunately there are no direct connections between Bergamo Orio al Serio airport and  Pavia as well. At first, you should arrive to the train station of Bergamo or of Milan. For more information: Bergamo Orio al Serio airport: connections. Then it is possibile to reach Pavia by train.

  • Milan – Pavia

From Milan it is also possible to get to Pavia by bus, not only by train. However, please note, that buses do not live from the Stazione Centrale of Milan but from different bus stops of the city. There are two bus companies that offer direct connections between Milan and Pavia: PMT ed Arfea.

1. PMT offers several bus lines:

a) Line t094: buses leave from Milano Romolo, that is from the bus stop near the metro station Romolo (green line M2) The average journey time is one hour as a bus makes many intermediate stops along the way.

b) Line t172: buses leave from Milano, via Vittadini.

2. Bus company Arfea, in turn, offers only one bus line between Milano Famagosta and Pavia. As  you can see, buses leave from Famagosta, that is from the bus stop near the metro station Famagosta (green line M2). Average journey time is 30 minutes. Tickets cost I biglietti costano circa 4-5 €.
