From Milan buses leave from the bus station Milano Lampugnano  at 8.30, 13.30 and 17.00 from Monday till Thursday. In Venice the buses also stop in Mestre. The final stop is Tronchetto, where buses arrive at 12.45, 17.45 and 21.15 accordingly.

From Friday till Sunday buses leave from the bus station Milano Lampugnano also at 20.00 and arrive in Troncetto at  00.10.

From Venice buses start their route in Troncetto at 8.00, 11.00 and 15.00 from Monday till Thursday. The bus stops in Mestre at 8.25, 11.25 and 11.25. In Milan the bus arrives at 12:20, 15.20 and 19.20 accordingly.

From Friday till Sunday the bus leaves Troncetto at 8.00, 11.00, 14.00, 18.30. The bus arrives in Milan at 12.20, 15,20, 18.20, 22.50 accordingly.

• Baltour

Also  gruppo Baltour offers connections Milan – Venice – Milan but there are no direct buses. The bus goes the whole way through Brescia, Verona, Mantova, Padova and Mestre. The average journey time is 7 hours. The average cost is 33 EUROES.

Buses BusCenter offer connection Milan – Venice twice a day: at  7:00 a.m. and at 5 p.m. From Venice to Milan the bus leaves at  8:00 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The tickets cost 3 EUROES if they are booked online beforehand. It is possible to buy tickets online, in travel agencies and in different ticket offices in the bus station.

From Milan the buses leave from the bus station Lampugnano, bus stop B3  (line M1).

• Megabus

Megabus offers connection Milan-Venice that goes through Verona and Padova. Average journey time is 4 hours and 20 minutes. Tickets cost 9 EUROES and more. It is possible to buy tickets online, in travel agencies and in ticket offices in the bus station.

The bus from Milan leaves the bus station Lampugnano at 1.45 a.m. and at 13.45. In Troccetto the bus arrives at 6.05 and 18.05 accordingly.

From Venice to Milan the bus leaves at 12.00 and at 23.59. The bus arrives in Milan at 16:20 and at 4.20.

• Trenitalia

It is also possible to take a train . The average cost for the train Trenitalia costs around 38 EUROES. From the train station Milano Centrale  the train passes Venezia Mestre and Venezia S. Lucia.

Two way ticket costs 10 EUROES. It is also possible to buy integrated ticket that includes also the entrance to the crater of Vesuvius.

• From Sorrento

 – Train Circumvesuviana

If you travel from Sorrento, it is possible to take  Circumvesuviana train direction Sorrento-Napolitill  Ercolano-Scavi. Ouside of the station Ercolano-Scavi there is a bus station with buses and taxi that go to Vesuvious. The average journey time is 30 min.

After you reach 1000 m with the bus or taxi, you need to go for some time (around 20 min )on foot till you reach edge of the crater. The entrance is paid and you can enter only accompanied with a tour guide that you find on spot.

On June 2016 ferries leave Naples at 19.00. From Caliari to Naples ferries leave at 19.00 as well. Average journey time is 13 h. 30 min. Average one way ticket price for a person on June 2016 starts from 35 EROUS. Ferry prices vary a lot depending on the season and when you book them. Also prices depend on the way of travelling on ferries: cabin/CABINA USO ESCLUSIVO, single bed/LETTO SINGOLO, seats/POLTRONA or bridge/PONTE. As usual the option ponte is the cheapest one. If you want to take with you animals or additional equipment such as cars, bicycles, motorbikes, it will cost additional amount of money.

Sea connections from Naples to Ischia are provided by four shipping companies Caremar,  Medmar, SNAV, Alilauro. They use both ferries/ital.traghetto that transport passengers and vehicles and hydrofoils/ital. aliscafо that transport only passangers. In Ischia there are 3 ports: Ischia, Casamicciola Terme and Forio. Ischia and Casamicciola Terme are situated rather close to each other whilst Forio is aside. Also please note that hydrofoils don’t go to Forio. In Naples ferries and hydrofoils use the ports P.D.MASSA, BEVERELLO and MERGELLINA. More information about ports of Naples you can read here.

Prices and timetable for ferries change often. During the high season, it is better to book the tickets beforehand. Tickets can be booked online on the official websites of the shipping companies. In case of bad weather, it is recommended to call the shipping company, you want to use, in order to varify the timetable. Please note that hydrofoils don’t operate when the weather is bad.

• Caremar

Caremar — Campania Regionale Marittima, is a shipping company founded in 1975. Ferries of these company transport passangers and vichles daily. Ferries and hydrofoils to Ischia leave only for port Ischia (average journey time is 1 h and 20 min ) and for port Casamicciola Terme (average journey time is 1h and 30 min). Some ferries stop in Procida.

In the following article we are going to look at how to get to the ports of Naples. There are 4 ports in Naples. The most popular ones are Molo Beverello  and Calata Porta di Massa that are situated close to each other.  The majority of ferries leave from these ports of Naples to Ischia, for example. Other two ports are Mergellina and Porto di Pozzuoli.

• Beverello и Calata Porta di Massa

These ports have the biggest passanger traffic in Naples. Molo Beverello is considered to be the one of the biggest port in the Mediterranean and the biggest one in Naples. To Ischia from Beverello leave only hydrofoils. From Calata Porta di Massa only ferries. The free bus connects daily Beverello and Calata Porta di Massa.

The most convenient way to reach these ports is by bus Alibus.The bus also stops at the Central Train Station of Naples — Napoli Centrale. Tickets can be bought on bus and in the ticket office in the airport.  Buses leave with the interval of 20 minutes. Average journey time is 40 min. The bus stop at the Calata Porta di Massa is written on the timetable as via Marina. The bus stop at the Molo Beverello as P.zza Municipio. You should ask the driver to stop on Via Marina if you need to get off at  Calata Porta di Massa. If you miss the stop and arrive at Molo Beverello , don’t worry. You can then take  free bus from there back to Calata Porta di Massa.

Tickets cost 3 EUROs. if you buy them in authorised point of sales and 4 EUROs if you buy them on the bus. Don’t forget to validate the ticket once you are in the bus.

Mergellina is a small port that is mostly use for entertainment purposes. But some shipping companies such as  Caremar, Snav e Alilauro offer hydrofoils conenctions to Ischia. Near Mergellina port there is a train station, so it is easy to reach the port by foot.  (around 400 meters)

• Port  Pozzuoli

Port Pozzuoliis connected directly with the main highroad Tangenziale. So the best way to reach it is by car. You need the exit Pozzuoli – Via Campana. Then just follow the street signs to the port. Please note that the highroad is not at a very good condition. Be careful.

Port of Piombino is well known as a point of departure to the Island of Elba. During the summer period buses are one of the conveniest ways to reach the port of Piombino from Italian cities.

• Florence — Piombino

The most convenient way to reach Piombino from Florence is by buses of BusItalia SITA and TIEMME Piombin. Buses go directly to the port.  After the port, buses stop at the train station of Piombino. Tickets can be booked online on the official website of the company or in the authorised selling points.  Also it is possible to buy tickets on the bus. Tickets for adults cost around 13 EURO. The average journey time is 2 h 30 minutes. Buses leave from the bus terminal at Via Santa Caterina da Siena, that is situated near Florence train station Santa Maria Noovella.

• Bologna, Venezia – Florence – Piombino

If you travel from Bologna or Venice it is more convenient to reach first  Florence train station Santa Maria Novella and then take the direct  bus  Florence – Piombino. Buses leave from the bus terminal at Via Santa Caterina da Siena, that is situated near Florence train station Santa Maria Noovella. 

• Milan — Piombino

From Milan to Piombino go the direct bus Arzillibus. In Milan the bus leaves from the Terminal Bus Lampugnano, that is situated on Giulio Natta street. The tickets cost 40 euros. Average journey time is 5 hours. You can check the timetable here:

from 01/10/2015 to  27/05/2016: on Monday, Wednesday and Friday the bus leaves from Milan at 15:00, the arrival time at the port of Piombino is at  20:30.

from 28/05/2016 to 30/09/2016: on Saturady, Monday,  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the bus leaves from Milan at 14.00, the arrival time at the port of Piombino is at 19:45

from 17/06/2016 to  19/09/2016:  on Saturday, Sunday and Monday the bus leaves from Milan at  07:30, the arrival time at the port of Piombino is at 12:30.

-Autostradale

During the summer Autostradale offers connection Milan-port of Piombino – Milan. Average journey time is 7 hours. From Milan buses leave from Terminal Bus Lampugnano, that is situated on Giulio Natta street. Tickets cost 40 euros. The bus stops in the port of Piombino just in front of the ticket office. The bus leaves from Milan at 7.15. The company offers this connection on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday depending on the concrete date.

Also you can reach Piombino by train. The closest train station to the port of Piombino is Piombino Marittim, a small train station just in front of the docks. More often people arrive at Campiglia Marittima train station where arrive the majority of trains from the south and north of the country. From Campiglia Marittima you can reach Piombino Marittim by train or by bus in 20 minutes.
